Welcome to Read Moore Tutoring!

READ MOORE TUTORTING provides reading intervention for students in first grade through adulthood who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling. They may or may not have a dyslexia diagnosis. I use the The Wilson Reading System®, Wilson Fundations®, and Wilson Just Words® which are based on the Orton-Gillingham instructional approach. The Wilson Reading System® directly addresses students’ issues with reading and spelling acquisition using a repetitive and structured multisensory approach. Wilson Just Words® is for students who need less intervention and the program moves at a more rapid pace.

These Wilson programs may be the right fit for your child if they struggle with these issues in reading:

  • decoding

  • retaining sight words

  • confusing or forgetting phonetic knowledge they have already been taught

  • over dependency on guessing while reading

These Wilson programs may be the right fit for your child if they struggle with these issues in writing:

  • letter reversals

  • inversions

  • substitutions

  • additional letters

  • transpositions (letters in wrong order)

  • omissions

Finally, the Wilson program IS the right fit for your child if they have

  • A dyslexia diagnosis

In order to provide the most effective services for your child a full reading language assessment is a necessity. I do assess all students before we begin to establish a baseline, but it does not identify any disorder. While I do not diagnose reading disabilities, I can assess them with a sensitive test that can rule it in or out and help you advocate or make some decisions. If your child has not had an assessment, you could also contact your school or an outside source, such as an educational psychologist or a speech and language pathologist.
